Microbiology Associate

Piper Companies is seeking a Microbiologist to support a leading organization within the biopharmaceutical manufacturing industry. This Microbiologist opportunity is a 6+ month contract role focused on environmental monitoring, microbiological testing, and cleanroom operations within a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment. This position is open to both entry-level candidates with a bachelor's degree and experienced laboratory professionals looking to expand their expertise in pharmaceutical manufacturing. Responsibilities Perform environmental monitoring activities, including viable air, surface, and personnel sampling within controlled manufacturing and laboratory environments. Conduct routine microbiology laboratory testing and generate accurate, GMP-compliant documentation of results and observations. Evaluate environmental monitoring data, identify trends, and assist with basic investigations and troubleshooting activities. Operate and maintain sampling equipment, laboratory instruments, and testing systems used to support contamination control programs. Ensure proper handling, labeling, storage, and disposal of laboratory materials while maintaining compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Life Sciences, or a related scientific discipline. Understanding of basic analytical chemistry concepts, including the ability to create standard curves and calculate unknown sample concentrations through interpolation. Experience gained through coursework, internships, academic research, or industry roles in microbiology, chemistry, or laboratory sciences.Comfortable completing cleanroom gowning certification and routinely working in ISO 5 and ISO 7 classified environments while spending extended periods on your feet. Strong technical writing, documentation, observation, and data analysis skills with the ability to follow procedures in a regulated setting.
