Senior Data Engineer

The Senior Data Engineer supports the planning, development and use of middleware technologies and services for integrating systems and exposing, transporting, and consuming data in a secure and reliable manner across a hybrid of applications, services and trading partners both on premise and in the Cloud.Where you fit in The Sr. Data Engineer in IDA is a critical role that conceptualizes and builds data foundations and end to end solutions for the Shell Business to maximize value from data. The role helps create a data-driven thinking within the organization, not just within IT teams, but also in the wider Business stakeholder community. A Sr Data engineer is expected to be an active thought partner in the organization’s data strategy. He/She is also the key driver to convert the Vison and Data Strategy into robust and future ready IT solutions.What’s the role? The Sr. Data Engineer is accountable for the following responsibilities (including but not limited to)Solution Design and Delivery: Be an active thought partner to define and implement Business Vision. Co-create with the Architecture team, a robust design that helps deliver the business ambitions towards maximizing value from data. Contribute to the project planning by providing inputs towards estimates and milestones. Ensure adherence to technical standards and upholds the quality of deliverables by enabling the team through strong delivery assurance processes and tools. Also champions ways of working into the team to improve agility and accelerate delivery. Enterprise Compliance: Drives, through the x-functional natural team, compliance to agreed technical Enterprise standards, promoting understanding of architectural roadmaps into the Product team. Leads the team to proactively manage risk and engage IRM/Legal during discovery and within the regulatory boundaries of target geographies. Value Generation & Prioritization: Seeks user value and understands how to translate this into commercial value for Shell across the delivery lifecycle. Seeks to prove value early and return on investment quickly. Creates a team environment where ideas are challenged and constructively debated to maximize business outcomes and reduce waste.Relationship Management: Role-models, champions, and advocates for collaborative and open ways of working and behaviors built on trust and driven by empathy. Acts to ‘oil the wheels’ of the Product team through influence, leadership, and inspiration – doing so as equally with contributing IT, business stakeholders and Product consumers.Innovation: Uses innovation with purpose, seeking insights from recognised internal and external champions.
