Job Summary:
The Emergency Medical Science Equipment and Simulation Support Student Worker supports the daily operations and instructional readiness of the Emergency Medical Science Department at Red Rocks Community College. Under the direction of EMS department leadership, this position assists with inventory and supply management, including monitoring supply levels, receiving and organizing materials, stocking equipment, and communicating replenishment needs.
The student worker maintains laboratories, simulation spaces, storage areas, and department ambulances in an organized and appropriately stocked condition. Responsibilities also include inspecting, cleaning, troubleshooting, and performing routine maintenance and minor repairs on patient simulators, task trainers, and other instructional equipment, as well as identifying and reporting damaged, missing, or malfunctioning equipment.
The position provides logistical support for laboratory and simulation activities by assisting with equipment and supply setup, breakdown, cleaning, and storage. The student worker works collaboratively with EMS faculty and staff while demonstrating initiative, attention to detail, sound judgment, safety awareness, professionalism, and effective communication.
This is a work-study position. This position may work up to 20 hours each week while class is in session an RRCC student, depending on class schedule, need, and budget availability. Student employees are enrolled and contribute to a TIAA-CREF account when enrolled in less than six credits.

Required Qualifications:
For work study employment:
1. Must be an RRCC student and have been granted a work study award for the semester the student is seeking employment and maintain eligibility.
2. Must be enrolled in at least half-time (6 credit hours) and meet Satisfactory Academic Progress for all credit hours.
For student hourly employment:
1. Must be an RRCC student and enrolled in at least half-time (6 credit hours).
1. Must have a commitment to equity and quality customer service and the ability to interact and communicate effectively in oral and written form with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
2. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
3. Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook PowerPoint) and have advanced computer skills and experience with virtual meeting platforms (Zoom/Webex etc.).
4. Must be reliable, punctual and have a good work ethic.
5. Must be a self-starter with time-management skills and a strong attention to detail.
6. Ability to work from campus (Lakewood campus location) and be eligible for student employment.
Physical & Cognitive Demands
The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly associated with this position.
This position involves both sedentary and non-sedentary duties.
Frequently stands, walks, bends, lifts, positions, moves, and transports equipment and materials, including lifting objects weighing up to approximately 50 pounds and pushing objects weighing up to approximately 150 pounds.
The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Current or prior EMT certification or higher, or current enrollment in an EMT course.

The hourly pay for this position is $19.37 to $19.89, commensurate with education and experience. This is a part-time, FLSA non-exempt position. This position may work up to 20 hours each week while an RRCC student, depending on need and budget availability. This position has been exempted from the State Classified System.

Medical insurance is offered to instructors and other variable hour employees who have worked, on average, at least 30 hours per week in a 12-month period. RRCC/CCCS uses an initial 12-month measurement period to determine medical benefit eligibility, and a 12-month standard measurement period. Student employees are limited to working no more than 20 hours a week, and non-classified hourly and temporary staff are limited to 28 hours in a workweek, depending on budget and need. Additional information about medical insurance, and Life and Disability benefit information can be found at the CCCS Employee Benefits site under “Instructor & Variable Hour Employee Benefit Information.” Sick leave is granted in accordance with SB20-205, Sick Leave for Employees, accrued at one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum of 48 hours per year. Instructors and non-student hourly are required to contribute to Colorado PERA at a fixed percentage of their salary and do not contribute to Social Security. RRCC/CCCS student employees are not eligible to participate in PERA. RRCC/CCCS offers three tax-deferred investment plans, including 401(k), 403(b) and 457. Employee assistance services such as counseling, professional coaching, financial planning, and more, are available to you and members of your household at no cost through the Colorado State Employee Assistance Program (C-SEAP).
