How You Will Fulfill Your Potential (Responsibilities) Conduct a variety of testing procedures on patient specimen samples according to physician orders and analyze test results to determine the presence of normal and abnormal components. Utilize the laboratory information system to report all test results which will be reviewed by a NYSDOH supervisor qualified Clinical Laboratory Technologist. Follow Standard Precautions and adhere to hospital and departmental safety policies and regulations. Conduct quality control (QC) testing to ensure accuracy of clinical data. Notify supervisor and initiate SOPs when QC is out of limits. Verify and document instrument function by monitoring and calibrating specific instruments. Participate in proficiency testing activities. Perform and document routine PM on assigned instruments and equipment according to established schedule and procedure. Document any repairs, replacements, and maintenance needs of instruments or equipment. Consult supervisor/pathologist as required. Document and notify all “Critical Test Values” and “Call test values” to the appropriate floor/office and physician. This information is entered into the LIS in a precise and timely manner. Demonstrate effective problem solving and team building skills. May assist in the training of technical staff regarding SOPs. Following SOPs may prepare slides for cytological screening by both pathologists and cytotechnologists. What You Bring (Qualifications) Education : Associate's Degree (AAS) in Medical/Clinical Laboratory Technology, or its equivalent as defined by the NYS Education Department. Licensure : Active, valid license as a Clinical Laboratory Technician issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED) is required. Certifications : ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology) registration or equivalent national certification is highly preferred. Core Capabilities : Strong technical troubleshooting skills for lab automation, ease with computerized medical applications, and the ability to communicate technical diagnostic parameters clearly to medical personnel under pressure. #J-18808-Ljbffr
