Technical Accounting Manager

A premier, global strategic advisory firm is seeking a Technical Accounting Manager to join its core controllership group. Reporting directly into senior financial leadership, this role serves as the firm's subject matter expert on complex accounting standards, high-impact transactions, and policy design. You will lead a small team, collaborate with executive stakeholders, and shape financial operations for a high-growth, multi-disciplinary organization. 

salary: $130,000 - $170,000 per year

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities

• Technical Research & Policy: Evaluate new U.S. GAAP guidelines, assess operational impact, and author comprehensive technical accounting memos to establish corporate positions.

• M&A & Strategic Deals: Serve as the primary accounting advisor for business combinations, due diligence, and deal integration.

• Cross-Functional Engagement: Consult with Internal Audit, Tax, FP&A, and Corporate Accounting to ensure aligned financial reporting across global subsidiaries.

• Specialized Accounting: Oversee complex areas, including stock-based compensation, revenue recognition, and lease accounting (ASC 842), driving continuous process improvements.

• Audit Management: Act as the main point of contact for external auditors regarding technical positions and key disclosures.

• Team Leadership: Direct and mentor a direct report while leveraging centralized shared services.

Qualifications

• Education & Credentials: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; active CPA preferred.

• Experience: 6 to 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, featuring foundational background in public accounting (Big 4 or national firm preferred).

• Technical Expertise: strong mastery of U.S. GAAP, structured accounting research tools, and complex domain experience (M&A, equity, leases).

• Skills: Exceptional communication abilities with proven success translating complex accounting concepts to non-finance executives.
