Description

American Traveler is hiring an LPN/LVN for a Med Surg/Telemetry unit requiring at least 1 year of recent Med Surg experience and proficiency in heparin drips, IV starts, and EPIC documentation.

Details

• Med Surg/Telemetry unit caring for patients with elective joint replacements, fractures, trauma, back/neck surgeries, post-op craniotomy, seizures, and strokes
• Unit expanding to 48 beds within the next year
• Charge nurse present every shift
• Unit accepts telemetry patients with limited IV drips
• No moderate sedation and closed reductions are very rare
• Uses specialized equipment including Buck's traction and Hoyer lift
• Scheduled for 4x12 night shifts, 1900-0700
• Float required
• Every third weekend required
• EPIC EMR experience preferred

Requirements

• Current LPN/LVN license required if applicable
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required
• Med Surg experience required within the last year; Med Surg/Telemetry experience preferred
• Proficiency in heparin drips, IV starts, and lab draws required
• BLS certification required
• NIHSS and Tele/EKG exam certifications required
• EPIC documentation experience required
• Skills in feeding tube care, foley catheter insertion, medication administration (IM, SQ, NG/G tube, oral), blood glucose monitoring, and oxygen administration
• Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation skills required
• Vital sign monitoring and isolation precautions/PPE competency required
• Age-specific competency for young adult, middle adult, and older adult populations

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include patient admission, communication of status changes to RN/MD, and telemetry monitoring on the unit
• RTO limited to 2 requests per contract
• No first-time travelers considered for this position
• Scrub color: any color/brand, solid
• Previous employees must be separated from the facility for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
