Registered Dietitian - Per Diem

Overview The Registered Dietitian I provides high‑quality nutrition care to patients. The role includes performing comprehensive nutrition assessments, determining nutrition problems, implementing interventions, monitoring status, and communicating with the healthcare team. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive nutrition assessments through the collection and analysis of evidence‑based parameters (anthropometric, biochemical, diet history, and physical examination data). Identify nutrition problems and their etiologies. Develop and implement nutrition interventions focused on the etiologies of the nutrition problems, including the patient and/or caregiver whenever possible. Monitor and evaluate nutrition‑related outcomes using standardized indicators relevant to the problems, goals, and medical condition. Communicate nutritional needs and concerns with the healthcare team. Provide nutrition education and counseling, taking into account the patient’s preferred language and learning method, knowledge, abilities, economic and social situations. Coordinate or delegate nutrition care to other health professionals, including other dietitians, across the continuity of care spectrum. Serve as a nutrition resource to students, health professionals, medical staff, and the public. Conduct in‑services and presentations as needed or assigned. Act as a preceptor for dietetic interns by providing instruction and feedback. Participate in quality assessment and improvement activities as assigned. Maintain productivity standards through effective time management and prioritization of tasks. Maintain accurate record‑keeping of daily activities, including information for scheduling and billing if applicable. Submit all required documentation, logs, and reports in a complete and timely manner. Perform all duties in accordance with the C‑I‑CARE Standards of the Hospital. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s Degree or advanced degree from an accredited college or university in Food Science, Nutrition, or Dietetics. Experience: 1‑2 years in clinical dietetics. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of the Nutrition Care Process and ability to apply all steps. Comprehensive knowledge and application of medical nutrition therapy. Critical thinking to integrate facts and observations supporting decision‑making. Effective written, verbal, and electronic communication with health professionals, patients, and the public. General knowledge of electronic health records and common computer applications. Strong organizational skills and the ability to accomplish work with time constraints. Ability to function independently on assigned units and/or outpatient clinics. Ability to work as a valued team member and autonomously. Licenses and Certifications: Registered Dietitian (RD) required.
