Senior Property Adjuster - Houston, TX

Job Summary Senior Property Adjuster – a field position in the Houston, TX market that reports to the Claims Manager in the EMA Loss Adjusting department. The Senior Property Adjuster effectively determines and communicates the extent of loss or damage associated with commercial property claims in a variety of business classes. Primary Job Responsibilities Investigate insurance claims in a variety of settings including retail establishments, office buildings, hospitality, corporate facilities, transportation sites, manufacturing sites, government facilities, schools, clinics, hospitals, etc. Assess loss or damage resulting from inclement or catastrophic weather, earthquakes, fire, vandalism, accidents, and other events. Conduct property inspections and photographs to document losses or damage. Interview claimants and experts such as architects, engineers, builders, police, health care practitioners, accountants to obtain necessary information. Coordinate with a team of experts, attorneys, public adjusters, and carrier examiners as needed. Apply a thorough understanding of insurance policies to establish appropriate loss estimates and provide recommendations for payment. Prepare accurate, clear, thorough, and concise reports and letters to insurance carriers. Use software systems such as Xactimate to produce accurate estimates. Maintain thorough field notes, journal entries, and time and expense records. Submit reimbursement reports in accordance with organization and client policies and industry standards. Prepare and conduct presentations and produce special reports for insurers as required. Required Education & Experience Bachelor's degree preferred. 2 to 5 years of commercial property loss adjusting experience. Experience with catastrophe claims. Wide range of experience across manufacturing, retail, industrial, habitational, and hospitality. Ability to understand claims adjudication process with knowledge of commercial and residential construction industries. Knowledge of property claim law. Active license or ability to promptly obtain such in the assigned state(s). Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Conflict resolution and persuasion abilities. Organized and detail‑oriented with strong problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Xactimate, Corelogic and adaptability to new technologies. Working Conditions The role frequently requires on-site work at property damage or loss locations, including disaster or catastrophe sites. May be required to travel evening, overnight, or weekends and possibly 2 weeks or more during catastrophes. The incumbent may be exposed to extreme heat, cold, precipitation, noise, vibrations, electrical currents, heights, chemicals, fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, or poor ventilation. Work may involve confined spaces and high areas requiring physical agility and balance. Physical Activities and Requirements May be required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift weights up to 50 pounds, and use fine motor skills during investigations. Requires close visual acuity to prepare reports and conduct inspections. Must view a computer terminal, use a keyboard, read printed documents, and perform detailed visual inspections, with or without correction. #J-18808-Ljbffr
