Job Summary: As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a crucial role in the daily operations of our residential program, ensuring the well-being and development of the participants. Your responsibilities include providing care, managing household duties, overseeing health and safety, and complying with all relevant standards and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Foster a safe, supportive environment that promotes residents' well-being, independence, and personal growth
• Assist residents with daily living skills, including personal care, meal planning, grocery shopping, and household maintenance
• Implement individualized program goals and support plans while managing behavioral challenges appropriately
• Monitor residents' physical and mental health; coordinate and attend medical appointments as needed
• Ensure proper medication administration and adherence to prescribed treatment plans
• Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with licensing, regulatory, and organizational standards
• Communicate clearly and effectively with residents, families, co-workers, and external service providers
• Promote positive social interactions and community integration
• Safely supervise residents and use adaptive equipment correctly
• Respond to emergencies appropriately and summon emergency personnel when necessary
• Collaborate with team members to ensure consistent, high-quality care
• Complete required training and participate in ongoing professional development for licensure and skill enhancement

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; one year of experience in rehabilitation, educational, or residential settings preferred
• Maintain current CPR and medication certifications; perform CPR or Heimlich maneuver as needed
• Demonstrate empathy, professionalism, and maturity when supporting individuals with diverse disabilities
• Assist the Supervising Counselor with direct care and program goal implementation
• Complete all required state training programs
• Hold a valid driver's license and safely operate agency vehicles; able to lift up to 50 lbs
