MANAGER OF IMAGING SERVICES - RADIOLOGY

LOCATION: Provident Hospital DEPARTMENT: Radiology SHIFT: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM Pay Range: $137,837 – $159,000 SUMMARY Under the direction of the Senior Director of Imaging and the Medical Department Chair of Radiology, the Manager of Imaging Services is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing the operations and staff in the diagnostic imaging services areas throughout Cook County Health & Hospitals System (CCHHS). The manager ensures that staff adheres to state and federal rules and regulations on safety and quality assurance. GENERAL ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES Collective Bargaining Review applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements and consult with Labor Relations to generate management proposals Participate in collective bargaining negotiations, caucus discussions, and working meetings Discipline Document, recommend and enact discipline at all levels Work closely with labor relations and/or labor counsel to enforce applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements Initiate, authorize, and complete disciplinary action pursuant to CCH system rules, policies and procedures Supervision Direct and enforce CCH management policies and practices Navigate CCH records systems to obtain and review information required to enforce Collective Bargaining Agreements Management Contribute to the management of CCH staff and system development and success Develop CCH system policy and procedure Use independent judgment to identify operational staffing issues and manage actions such as hiring, transfers, suspensions, layoffs, recalls, promotions, and terminations pursuant to Collective Bargaining Agreements Collaborate with Labor Relations to ascertain past practices when necessary TYPICAL DUTIES Manage operations and staffing supporting diagnostic imaging services Participate in interview, selection, and hiring processes Oversee orientation, supervision, and disciplinary processes for staff Monitor performance standards of staff for compliance Implement policies and procedures pertaining to diagnostic imaging services Ensure staff maintain patient confidentiality and comply with community standards and regulatory agencies Review equipment maintenance schedules and promptly address issues with medical‑technical equipment Manage inventory control to minimize waste of supplies and maintain organized storage per inventory list Utilize established performance standards and conduct evaluations Document performance evaluations; address issues and implement corrective action immediately Execute administrative decisions timely and effectively as documented in staff meeting minutes Communicate effectively with unit staff, administration, and other managers; report negative situations with corrective plans Recommend staffing levels ensuring employee and patient safety; select qualified candidates following recruitment procedures Motivate others to perform at their maximum, enhancing morale and productivity Facilitate systematic problem‑solving to resolve hospital issues or clarify discrepancies via proper chain of command Attend department or committee meetings as needed Perform other duties as assigned MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma or GED (must provide proof at interview) Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist Program (must provide proof at interview) Must complete one of the following (proof required at interview): Registered as a Technologist (RT) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certified/Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in MRI or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMRIT) Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) Registered in Computerized Technology Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) Current license from the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) (must provide proof at interview) Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (must provide proof if already obtained) Five (5) years of management experience in a large imaging department with oversight of multiple modalities Experience in a high‑volume imaging department Ability to travel to CCHHSS work sites PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university Experience with a unionized workforce Previous experience in a public healthcare system KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS Knowledge of current radiologic techniques, methods, apparatus, PACS, CR, DR imagery, basic hospital and nursing care procedures, and anatomy Knowledge of effective management principles (planning, organization, delegation, personnel practices, training, quality assurance, safety policies) Effective communication with patients, physicians, nurses, vendors, and other healthcare personnel; counseling, motivating, and training employees Analytical skills to evaluate complex data and develop actionable plans Creative problem‑solving and initiative to achieve program goals Document preparation and implementation of corrective measures; clear oral and written communication PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS This position functions within a healthcare environment. The incumbent must adhere to all hospital and department safety requirements, including personal protective equipment, hand washing, sanitizing practices, engineering controls, and other safety precautions as specified by hospital policy.
