Position Details:

RN Med Surg- Zanesville, OH

Location: Zanesville, OH 43701

Duration: 13 Weeks contract

Salary Range: $45/hr - $50/hr

Shift Timing: Days (7a - 7:30p)

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse – Medical/Surgical provides direct nursing care to patients with a variety of medical conditions, illnesses, and postoperative needs. The RN is responsible for assessing patient conditions, administering medications and treatments, monitoring patient progress, coordinating care, and educating patients and families to support safe and effective patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including monitoring vital signs and evaluating changes in patient condition.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans.
• Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and treatments as prescribed.
• Monitor laboratory results, diagnostic findings, and patient responses to treatment.
• Provide care to patients with acute and chronic medical conditions and postoperative needs.
• Perform wound care, dressing changes, catheter care, and management of drains and IV lines.
• Assess and manage patient pain and implement appropriate interventions.
• Recognize signs of patient deterioration and promptly notify physicians or initiate emergency response procedures.
• Assist with diagnostic procedures, bedside treatments, and other clinical interventions.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
• Coordinate patient care with physicians, nursing assistants, therapists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals.
• Follow infection-control practices, medication-safety standards, fall-prevention protocols, and hospital policies.
• Participate in patient handoffs, discharge planning, and continuity-of-care activities.
• Respond to rapid response situations and medical emergencies as required.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the Ohio state or compact state
• BLS certification required.
• ACLS certification required or preferred, depending on facility requirements.
• Minimum 3 years of current/recent Telemetry and/or Stepdown experience is required
• Current Epic EMR proficiency is required
