Quality Engineer III

Position Overview Quality Engineer III – Full time 12‑month assignment (possible extension). Location: Valencia, CA (travel to San Diego, CA for training and 4–5 days onsite per month). Schedule: 40 hours per week. Pay: $60 per hour (variable based on skills, experience, location). Job Description Responsible for creating test methods, work instructions, training, and mentoring technicians who investigate return and non‑return products. Review investigations for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with SOPs/WIs. Collaborate with Post Market functions, R&D, Design Assurance, Operations, Supplier Management, and Medical Safety to investigate product issues. Create monitoring IDs to assess product performance and use data analysis tools to identify causes. Responsibilities Lead departmental or cross‑functional engineering initiatives. Understand failure modes and approve product analysis for return and non‑return complaints related to electro‑mechanical devices performed by technicians. Coordinate, train, and supervise failure investigation activities for lab technicians. Support integration of new products into CIS lab by creating and validating test methods and instructions. Create and present slides for SER/CRB. Collaborate with Post Market, R&D, Design Assurance, Manufacturing, Supplier teams to determine root cause of complaints. Monitor product performance and escalation of any non‑conformance issues with returned devices. Create and maintain product performance trends based on UPN and code groupings. Investigate trend excursions by data analysis to find causes. Create, release new WIs/SOPs in document control system. Initiate and own non‑conformance investigations. Train technicians in root‑cause analysis techniques. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 4+ years of relevant experience. Demonstrated problem‑solving and failure analysis capabilities of electronic systems/components, including RF communication. Proficient with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams. Ability to multi‑task and adapt. Understanding of RF communication schemes and concepts. Must work in San Diego for a few months. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 2‑3 years of experience in a similar role. Understanding of system‑level functionalities and ability to devise and validate test methods for failure analysis of systems/components. Experience in the medical device industry. Familiarity with Post Market requirements and systems. Working Conditions May be exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise levels from office equipment. Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. Requires use of computers and technology.
