Pride Health is hiring a Phlebotomist II to support our client's healthcare facility in Clifton Park NY 12065.

Job Type: Local contract

Contract Length: 03 Months+ with possible extension Pay Range: $19.00 to $21.60/hour* *Pay offered is based on experience, expertise, credentialing, and education.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and specimen collection using straight needles and butterfly needles.
• Collect blood and other specimens, including urine or fecal samples, according to established procedures.
• Clearly and courteously explain the blood collection process to patients and address questions or concerns.
• Review physician orders and laboratory requisitions to ensure accurate specimen collection.
• Match laboratory requisitions with the appropriate specimen tubes and verify patient information.
• Accurately label all specimens and verify computer-generated labels against physician orders or requisitions.
• Centrifuge, separate, split, freeze, and process specimens according to specific test requirements.
• Store specimens at the appropriate temperature and in the correct collection containers or tubes.
• Package specimens properly for laboratory transport while maintaining specimen integrity.
• Update patient information and maintain accurate documentation in laboratory and computer systems.
• Record required maintenance and decontamination information and maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Follow established protocols for specimen handling, processing, storage, and transportation.
• Comply with OSHA, DEP, laboratory safety, infection-control, and department regulations.
• Attend required annual departmental training and maintain knowledge of current procedures.
• Assist with troubleshooting, workflow recommendations, and other assigned laboratory duties.
• Answer telephone calls and assist with laboratory-related inquiries as appropriate.
• Provide accurate and professional customer service to patients, physicians, and healthcare staff.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid Phlebotomy Certification required where applicable by state regulations.
• Minimum of 6 months of venipuncture experience in a fast-paced laboratory, hospital, or clinical setting.
• 2–4 years of healthcare or phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer systems.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in specimen identification and processing.
• Excellent communication and patient-service skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Ability to follow laboratory procedures, safety regulations, and specimen-handling protocols.
