To learn more about our programs and our team, visit WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR We are actively seeking energetic, organized, and team-oriented After School Site Directors to join our cohort of 10-15 Site Directors from September 2026 through June 2027. This is a part-time position during the school year, with the potential to work during the summer (July - August) at a Kids in the Game summer camp as part of a camp leadership team. After School Site Directors at NYC-based after school programs must be able to travel to the Kids in the Game office located in Manhattan at least once per week, and to NYC-based schools for orientation and ongoing training during the year. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING The After School Site Director plays a key leadership role in delivering high-quality after-school programming for elementary school students at public, private, and charter schools. This is a school-year, part-time position (September - June) focused on the daily implementation, safety, and culture of a single after-school site serving approximately 30–100 students. The After School Site Director supports administrative and operational systems, leads coaching staff, manages logistics, and fosters a safe, inclusive, and enriching environment. As the on-site supervisor, the Site Director is responsible for supervising staff, overseeing day-to-day operations of the after school program, and maintaining strong relationships with families, school partners, and internal departments at Kids in the Game. The Site Director ensures that the program aligns with Kids in the Game’s mission, values, programming, and quality standards. This includes ensuring that the program staff are meeting training and program quality expectations to provide all participants with positive experiences and opportunities through homework assistance, enrichment classes, and sports and creative play activities. Key responsibilities include:Meetings & Office Hours:Attend 1 office hour shift per week at the Kids in the Game OfficeThursday mornings (10:00am - 1:00pm)Includes biweekly Site Director meeting from 11am - 11:30amAttend biweekly 1:1 with Program Manager (virtual or in-person)To be conducted during after school or office hours Attend monthly 1:1 with People & Culture Department (virtual or in-person)May include optional office shift during extended school break weeks (Mid-winter/Spring) if Spring Break Camps are not operatingTraining Expectations and Responsibilities:Participate in the 2026–2027 Professional Development series running from September through May, consisting of a combination of mandatory in-person workshops, virtual workshops, and Leadership Institutes.See Appendix A for the 2026-2027 Site Director Professional Development Calendar.Must meet a minimum of 30-35 training hours per school year through a combination of in-person, live virtual, and virtual training.Site Directors are expected to attend at least 75% of all professional development sessions throughout the school year. Failure to meet participation may negatively impact performance ratings and result in disciplinary action leading up to and including termination.Complete all required onboarding, orientation, and compliance trainings, including Mandated Reporter and Sexual Harassment Prevention trainings.Complete required training modules in TalentLMS (Site Director Foundations Course, general training topics, and SACC training topics if applicable).Support new staff by modeling expectations, reviewing key protocols, and ensuring they are fully trained on Kids in the Game policies and practices.Lead on-site training huddles with your staff to reinforce policies, introduce new initiatives, and review youth development best practices.Attend a minimum of 2 Culture & Impact Days per school year (if applicable). Daily and Weekly OperationsServe as the lead on-site representative of Kids in the Game at a designated after school site, overseeing program structure, transitions, and schedulesReport to the after school program by 2pm each day & clock in via Paycom12:30pm for sites with half-day programs starting at 1:00 - 1:30pmSupervise a team of 5–15 part-time staff, including newly hired and seasoned youth development workersLead daily huddles and weekly team meetings to set expectations, review plans, and address challengesConduct regular program walkthroughs and observations to provide staff feedback and uphold qualityEnsure high-quality programming, smooth transitions, daily schedules, and consistent staff performanceMonitor, document, and address behavioral and safety concernsFacilitate parent and family communication and respond to incidents, questions, or concernsProvide daily and weekly updates to the Program Manager related to program operations, enrollment, programming, supplies & equipment, behavioral/safety incidents, staff performance, family engagement, and partner communicationsProgramming and Special Events:Design weekly and monthly program schedules and calendar of events, including Sports & Games, Creative Club, Discover Club, Movement, Special Events, and Parent Play Nights (3-4 per year)Build engaging weekly schedules using Program Design resources and activities in the Coaches Portal, adjusting for participant needs and site capacityImplement the Kids in the Game Specialized Units and signature programming (if applicable)Plan and support the staff in facilitating hands-on activities in key areas such as STEM, art, team games, movement, and special eventsAlign daily programming with monthly themes (e.g. Healthy Heart, March Madness) and ensure that participants are learning new games, sports, and STEAM skillsPrepare and lead site-specific celebrations, including painting class, family showcases, talent shows, and holiday eventsSupport vendor relationships and coordinate enrichment instructor schedules and logistics (enrichment after school sites)Provide feedback to Program Design team on activity implementation, participant engagement, and activity adjustments through weekly reportsAdministrative Systems & Task Management:Maintain accurate attendance, incident, and schedule records using shared platforms including Paycom, Asana, After School Site Hubs, and LineLeaderTrack daily data: attendance, drop-in enrollments, injuries and incidents (participants & staff), customer inquiries, staff absences and latenessReview and update staff timesheets on a weekly/biweekly basis in PaycomCommunicate with internal departments via Slack, Gmail, and phone callsPost regular (weekly/biweekly) program updates via Slack and complete monthly newslettersCommunicate with registered families through Aircall, Gmail, and company-approved communication channelsCollect and share program feedback through staff surveys, Slack channels, and informal conversationsComplete administrative tasks including collecting lesson plans and updating supplies and inventory logsMaintain a well-organized and clean office or storage space at the schoolBudgeting & Finance Support:Review annual program budget and plan how to spend the budget to support programming activities, special events, supplies and purchasing, staff appreciation, and parent eventsPurchase supplies in collaboration with the Program Manager and Operations Department; follow the appropriate supplies purchasing protocolEnsure that all purchases are tracked in the budget and receipts are submitted within 2 days of purchaseWork with the Enrollment Coordinator and Finance Team to manage billing, collect and track payments, and reduce outstanding registration balancesManage family communications related to balances and outstanding payments via email, phone, and in-person meetingsFamily & School Partnership:Model inclusive practices and promote a culture of belonging for staff, families, and school partners and support staffRepresent Kids in the Game at school-sponsored events, family meetings, open houses, and registration eventsLead special programming efforts such as themed events, family engagement nights, and Parent Play NightsStaff Leadership & Scheduling:Work with the Program Manager and the People & Culture Department to discuss staff ratios and scheduling needsRecommend coach placements based on skills and program fit; submit coach feedback to the People & Culture DepartmentHelp onboard new staff by walking them through site routines, require coaching practices (e.g. call and responses, Rule of 3), communication protocols, and daily expectationsProvide regular reminders, feedback, and coaching to the staff to help them become stronger coaches Document and address staff performance concerns or incidents through memos and PDFs in Paycom to issue verbal and written warningsAdminister staff performance reviews twice per year in collaboration with the People & Culture DepartmentComplete a self-assessment twice per year (fall and spring) and receive a supervisor assessment from designated Program ManagerHealth & Safety:Monitor on-site safety of participants and staff, train staff on safety protocols, and intervene when incidents ariseComplete daily incident and injury reports; follow the incident documentation and communication process thoroughly and in a timely manner (24-48 hrs)Provide regular reminders about health and safety protocols, including supervision ratios, safe play and equipment use, hydration and breaks, physical contact, harassment and bullying, etc. Schedule and Compensation Site Directors must be available during after school hours Monday - Friday from September 2, 2026 through June 18, 2027. Site Directors are not expected to work during school closures and holidays. Note: Most after school programs operate from 3-6pm daily; Site Directors are expected to be on-site at 2pm. Some private and charter schools operate half day after school programs once per week (Wednesdays or Fridays). Site Directors are expected to be on-site by 1pm to lead the half day programming with their team of coaches. Typical Weekly Schedule:After School Program Hours: 22 to 25 hours per week2:00 - 6:00pm dailyOffice Hours: 3 hours per week (in-person at the Manhattan office)Thursdays, 10:00am - 1:00pmTraining Hours:35-40 hours of Site Director live & virtual training per school yearCulture & Impact Days - $55 per dayVirtual Training - $25 per session Hourly Compensation: This position is a part-time, hourly position. Site Directors are paid hourly for hours worked in after school programming, scheduled office hours, and in-person training.
