Moderator for Outdoor Data Collection (Bellevue-WA)

We are conducting an outdoor residential data collection initiative using prototype video cameras. The purpose of this project is to capture high-quality video and point-cloud data from the front yard, front gate, driveway, and garage areas of residential homes to support AI and sensor training datasets.

Moderators will work in two-person teams, traveling to assigned residential locations, operating specialized equipment, and ensuring data quality throughout the collection process. This is a hands-on, field-based role ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, has an interest in emerging technology, and takes pride in producing accurate and reliable results.

Project Details - Duration & Schedule

• Total project length: 5 weeks (1 week training and onboarding + 4 weeks active data collection)
• The first three collection days will include weekday and Saturday shifts
• Approximately 70% of collection will take place during standard daylight hours; 30% will occur during dusk/twilight hours
• Shift start times will vary based on the collection schedule and home participant availability

Daily Work Structure

• Report to our office at the start of each shift to check out equipment and receive the assigned home address for the day
• Drive to the assigned residential location (one team member will drive their personal vehicle; mileage will be fully reimbursed)
• Spend approximately 5–6 hours at the home collecting video using prototype video camerasReturn to the office at the end of each shift to check in equipment, connect devices for charging, and initiate data uploads
• Office-based Site Leads will manage equipment check-out and check-in each day

Training & Onboarding

All specialists will complete dedicated training and onboarding prior to the start of data collection. Training will cover the exact data collection protocol, equipment operation, data upload procedures, and quality control guidelines, including how to identify usable data and which frames to discard (e.g., footage containing bystanders). No prior experience with the devices is required; full training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate prototype video cameras in outdoor residential environments following trained protocols
• Connect devices to home owners ethernet/modem.
• Capture high-quality video from front yards, front gates, driveways, and garage areas
• Review collected footage to assess data quality and flag or discard unusable frames (e.g., those containing bystanders or obstructions)
• Perform basic on-site troubleshooting of equipment as needed
• Transport equipment safely between the office and field locations
• Check equipment in/out and complete data uploads at the office at the end of each
• Coordinate effectively with your two-person team and communicate any issues to the on-site Site Lead

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle (required for at least one team member per
• team)Personal auto liability insurance
• Comfort working outdoors for extended periods (5–6 hours per shift), including in varying light conditions
• Interest in technology and ability to learn new hardware and software tools quickly
• Ability to perform basic equipment troubleshooting in the field
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established data collection protocols
• Reliable, punctual, and able to adhere to varying shift schedules (including early morning, evening, and Saturday shifts)
• Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required

Compensation & Benefits

• $26.00 per hour for standard hours up to 40 hours per week
• $33.00 per hour for any hours worked beyond 40 per week
• Mileage reimbursement for personal vehicle use during data collection travel
