Registered Nurse In Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day 4x10-Hour Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years of critical care and PACU experience in a Level I Trauma Center License: Current state license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - Epic experience - Critical care experience - Inpatient experience - Dysrhythmia recognition and management - Blood product administration - Phlebotomy - Starting IVs - IV vasopressors - ICP monitoring - Care of ventilated patients Description: The position requires shifts of 4x10 hours from Monday to Friday with rotating start times as needed. Average daily census is 70-90 patients in a unit consisting of 38 patient bays. Candidates may recover surgical patients post-operatively, including those from neurosurgery, ENT, orthopedics, thoracic, vascular, trauma, general, colorectal, GYN, urological, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, and transplant surgeries. Experience with open heart surgeries and liver transplants is not required as those cases are not recovered in this unit. Candidates are expected to provide care for a diverse patient population including adults, adolescents, and geriatrics. Unit is open 24/7 and critical care experience is mandatory due to patients requiring artificial airways, invasive monitoring, transfusions, and vasoactive medications. Candidate must demonstrate proficiency in recovery from general anesthesia and management of high acuity patients. Experience with drains, vasoactive drips, and mechanical ventilation is essential. Interactions with interdisciplinary support services including respiratory services and rapid response teams are expected. Floating within the service line may be required, specifically to PACU or PreOp units. This position is not eligible for weekend shifts or on-call duties. Selective screening for required skills will be conducted to ensure candidates meet specified qualifications.
