Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Tax Preparer with a minimum of 3 years of hands-on tax preparation experience with individuals and businesses . The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing individual and small business tax returns, ensuring compliance with current tax laws and regulations, and providing exceptional service to our clients.

Schedule:

• In office (Morristown, TN 37814)

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and file accurate federal, state, and local income tax returns for individuals and businesses (1040, Schedule C, 1120, 1065, etc.).
• Review financial records such as income statements, expense reports, and previous tax returns to determine appropriate tax strategies.
• Identify potential tax credits and liabilities and ensure accurate and complete returns are filed in a timely manner.
• Advise clients on tax planning strategies to minimize liabilities and stay compliant.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax laws and regulations through ongoing education and research.
• Respond to inquiries from clients and tax authorities, and assist with audits as needed.
• Use tax software (e.g., Drake, ProSeries, Lacerte, UltraTax) to complete and electronically file returns.

Qualifications:

• Must have Minimum 3 years of tax preparation experience in a professional setting for both individuals and businesses.
• Proficient in tax preparation software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state tax codes, regulations, and procedures.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Strong attention to detail with high standards for accuracy.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to explain complex tax issues in simple terms.

Preferred Qualifications:

• PTIN required.
• EA or CPA designation is preferred.
• Experience with small business returns or bookkeeping.
• Bilingual abilities (especially Spanish) are a bonus.
