Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 2 years of specialty experience and a compact or LA license in hand.

Details

• Work in the Med/Surg Tele unit of a hospital environment
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (18:45-07:15)
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• No floating required

Requirements

• Active RN license (Compact or LA) in hand upon consideration
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and CPI
• PALS preferred, especially for pediatric patient assignments
• Minimum 2 years of specialty experience required
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• Experience with telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and cardiac drip management preferred
• Skills in central line care, PICC line management, and wound care/wound vac preferred
• Valid driver's license required for consideration
• Up-to-date NURSYS report required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care to med/surg telemetry patients with a low pediatric population
• Monitor for dysrhythmias and manage cardiac/vasoactive drips without titration
• Perform respiratory care including oxygen administration, tracheostomy management, and non-invasive airway support
• Candidates must reside more than 65 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
• Must be willing to work 2 of 4 designated holiday periods annually (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)
• Orientation is held 5 days a week
• Two Manager/Supervisor references (not Charge RN) will be required to obtain clearance to start, though not required for initial consideration
• RTO must be disclosed and discussed during the interview process to avoid offer rescission
• Former Ochsner Health permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must have a 1-year separation before returning as a travel candidate
