With more than 30 years of correctional healthcare experience, SHP offers a unique opportunity to practice nursing with purpose, professional autonomy, and a focus on patient needs.What You'll DoProvide compassionate, quality nursing care to patients in a correctional healthcare setting.Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.Conduct nursing assessments and monitor patient conditions for changes requiring intervention.Assist with sick calls, chronic care management, and other patient healthcare needs.Respond to medical concerns and emergencies according to established protocols.Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential medical documentation.Collaborate with healthcare team members to promote patient safety and continuity of care.Follow established clinical protocols, facility procedures, and applicable nursing standards.QualificationsGraduate from a National League of Nursing accredited school and holds current license to practice professional nursing in the appropriate state(s). Competence in performance of the following services: crisis intervention, medical emergencies, physical assessment, medical nursing care, and psychiatric nursing care. Ability to work without direct, immediate supervision in performing nursing diagnosis and providing appropriate follow-through treatment. Maintain a professional attitude at all times. Prefer: 2 years clinical experience and prior jail setting experience.Current, unrestricted Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in North Carolina or a multistate license valid for practice in North Carolina. Current CPR certification or ability to obtain as required. Strong clinical assessment, communication, and documentation skills. Ability to work independently and make sound clinical decisions. Commitment to patient confidentiality, professional ethics, and quality care. Ability to work in a safe, secure correctional environment.
