Senior Modeling & Simulation Lead Engineer

Salary: $136,850 - 228,100 per year Requirements:

• We require a bachelors degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, or a closely related discipline, along with 10+ years of relevant experience.
• We need demonstrated expertise in digital engineering methods, including practical application of model-based systems engineering, digital thread, and digital twin concepts.
• We expect a strong grasp of digital ecosystem components such as product lifecycle management tools, data protection and management, and high-performance computing environments as they apply to engineering workflows.
• We require hands-on experience developing or applying advanced computational models such as CFD, FEA, and trajectory simulation for complex aerospace systems.
• We need proven expertise in at least one modeling and simulation area: aerodynamics, aerothermodynamics, combustion, or structural mechanics.
• We expect a solid understanding of cloud environments such as AWS GovCloud or Azure Government and their use in engineering workflows.
• We require excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce detailed technical reports and deliver engineering briefings on status, findings, and risks.
• We value experience working collaboratively in cross-functional or matrixed engineering teams.
• We need someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently with minimal oversight.
• We require proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• We require an active Secret security clearance.
• Preferred qualifications include a masters degree or Ph.D. in a relevant engineering or science field.
• Preferred experience includes modeling and simulation of hypersonic, high-temperature, or reacting flow fields.
• Preferred qualifications also include familiarity with AI and machine learning methods for engineering analysis or data-driven modeling.
• Preferred experience includes evaluating the technical performance of other government contractors.
• Familiarity with DoW weapon acquisition programs and the role of test and evaluation in system development is preferred.
• Knowledge of large-scale data management strategies and standardized data formats such as HDF5 is preferred.
• Experience with MBSE tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler and the Systems Modeling Language is preferred.
• Familiarity with PLM software such as Windchill and modern DevSecOps or collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, and GitLab is preferred.
• Eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance is preferred.
• We require U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a U.S. Government security clearance at the Secret level.
• We also require approximately 20% travel during the year to performer worksites and government offices.

• We serve as the lead technical expert supporting the government program office and oversee a portfolio of advanced modeling and simulation projects.
• We work in a highly collaborative, integrated team of engineers and project managers to help achieve technical and programmatic objectives.
• We provide direct government oversight for the development and integration of digital engineering elements for high-priority hypersonic test and evaluation modernization efforts.
• We champion the use of AI and machine learning within physics-based models to improve predictive performance and speed up analysis.
• We evaluate contractor approaches for building and sustaining the digital thread, ensuring continuity from requirements in MBSE models through design, simulation, test, and operations.
• We oversee the development of cloud-based digital engineering environments and help integrate modeling tools, data repositories, and program management software.
• We conduct technical reviews of contractor-developed modeling and simulation tools, methods, and validation plans to confirm fidelity and accuracy.
• We assess contractor approaches to multi-physics coupling, including aerodynamics, aerothermodynamics, and structural response, as well as integration of modeling results with physical test data.
• We review and provide feedback on verification, validation, and accreditation plans and results for all models and simulations.
• We support performer-led project reviews, including SRR, IBR, PDR, CDR, and TIMs, with emphasis on modeling and simulation content.
• We prepare and present technical assessments, white papers, and recommendations for the Chief Engineer and Government Program Manager on modeling and simulation progress, risks, and opportunities.
• We review and provide technical input on deliverables such as the Systems Engineering Plan, Integrated Master Schedule, and other modeling-and-simulation-related program documentation.
• We lead efforts to adopt and use GenAI and other advanced digital tools to improve the effectiveness of technical oversight.
• We communicate complex modeling, simulation, and digital engineering findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
