Temporary Job Opportunity: Blood Draw Technician

Role: Blood Draw Technician

Location: Mobile, AL

Schedule: 3rd shift 8pm-6:30am M-F Rotate every other weekend

Expected duration: 3 months + potential for permanent hire

Overview:

A phlebotomist is responsible for aiding in various tasks, offering guidance, training, and proposing improvements to workflow.

Role Duties:

Experience in blood drawing, specimen labeling, specimen centrifuging, data recording and decontamination, patient information updating, etc.

Gathers and stores specimens following established protocols.

Clearly and courteously explains the venipuncture process or other specimen collection procedures as needed.

Demonstrates techniques using straight needles or butterfly needles.

Fully comprehends all physician instructions.

Matches requisition forms with specimen tubes, labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing specimens per test order requirements.

Verifies all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy.

Prepares specimens for transportation.

Stores samples at correct temperatures, placing them in suitable containers and labeling accurately in accordance with transport protocols.

Adheres to OSHA and DEP regulations.

Participates in annual department trainings.

Handles phone calls, reads lab results to respond to inquiries.

Basic Requirements:

Valid Phlebotomy certification as required per state regulations

At least 6 months of experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

High School diploma or equivalent

Minimum of 1-2 years of experience
