Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Profession: Nursing Specialty: Float/Med Surg/Telemetry/Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 24 months in Progressive Care, Stepdown, Med Surg, Tele, or Med/Tele experience License: Active Iowa license or compact/multistate Certifications: - Basic Life Support (BLS) - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - NIH Stroke Scale certificate (nice to have) - De-Escalation Certificate (preferred) Must-Have: - Experience, comfort, and proficiency with drips including heparin, insulin, lasix, amiodarone, diltizem, digoxin - Ability to read EKG/ECG and perform tele-related duties - EPIC electronic medical record experience - Skills checklist specific to the discipline of Progressive Care, Stepdown, Med Surg, Tele, or Med/Tele Description: Quickly interviewing viable candidates through phone calls or texts. Nurses will be assigned to various units based on needs and are required to float across Med Surg, Behavioral Health, Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, and some post-procedural areas. There is no designated home unit. Primary care will be within Med Surg, floating to different units as assistance is needed based on census and staffing. Completion of Basic Dysrhythmia Assessment with a passing score of 80% during onboarding is required. Candidates should have experience in critical care settings and a strong understanding of telemetry nursing practices. Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Nurses will be expected to adhere to all policies and procedures related to patient care and safety. Flexibility is essential, as staff may be required to work holidays and weekends based on the unit’s operational needs.
