) Job Number 2600021I Job Summary As a Supervisory Sales Associate you will be the face of our company to both the associates and our customers. Ask questions and listen to customers' needs. Direct customers to merchandise, informing them about upcoming events, promotions, mobile offers, STAR card. Cooperate and build positive, inclusive, and respectful relationships; take accountability for your own actions and outcomes. Maintain store appearance. Cross-sell products and know the store layout. Make suggestions to customers on latest trends and current promotions based on individual needs. Upsell products. Learn product features, keep up with the latest trends, and leverage company tools and technology to confidently provide product knowledge and specs. Use a point-of-sale system to process cash, exchanges, discounts, gift cards, credit cards, debit cards; handle cash, count money, and return accurate amounts. Complete various forms of paperwork, reports, and inventory reconciliation. Be the keeper of merchandise: complete all inventory processes, ensure merchandise is properly checked in, accurately ticketed; may participate in periodic inventories. Assume responsibility for the security of cash, fixed assets, and merchandise inventory. Provide direction on assignments, including prioritizing projects and tasks, managing merchandise and inventory. Adhere to assigned work schedule; accurately and completely follow through on work assignments. Provide effective leadership, demonstrate the ability to direct, train, and motivate associates, set a positive example. Provide coaching and feedback timely and professionally. Provide direction on work assignments and training to sales associates; give input to the Department Manager on associate performance. May open and close locations. Qualifications Moderate level of product knowledge of merchandise. Provide training documentation to sales associates on product features. 1–2 years of retail or relevant work experience required; 1 year of lead or supervisory experience preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively with customers, peers, and management. Proficiency in telephone etiquette. Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division). Ability to use a calculator and calculate percentages and ratios; make change in American monetary units. Reasoning ability to multi-task while attending to customers and remaining flexible to the needs of the business. Capacity to work as part of a team and take initiative independently of direct supervision. Ability to defuse escalated exchanges and create win‑win situations. Physical Demands / Work Environment This position involves constant moving, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing, and standing for at least two consecutive hours. May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders. Vision abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Involves lifting at least 25 lbs. and up to 50 lbs. in some departments. Work typically performed indoors but may be assigned outdoors depending upon location. Work Hours Available to work a variety of hours which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Experience General experience: 1 year responsible experience in clerical office or retail sales store work of any kind in which the applicant has demonstrated the ability to perform satisfactorily in the position to be filled. Specialized experience: 1 year progressively responsible experience in retail sales performing the kind of duties which constitute the principal work of the position to be filled. Education substitution: Study completed in a college, university, or junior college above the high school level may be substituted on the basis of one‑half academic year of study for 6 months of experience. At any level, specialized experience may be substituted for required general experience.
