Chawla and Chawla PC is looking for a driven and detail-oriented Senior Tax Associate to join our growing team in Gaithersburg, MD. This is an exciting opportunity to take your tax expertise to the next level within a respected professional accounting firm. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and are passionate about delivering exceptional client service, we want to hear from you! Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review complex federal and state tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and trusts
- Conduct tax research and analysis to identify planning opportunities and ensure compliance
- Advise clients on tax strategies, minimizing liabilities, and achieving financial goals
- Manage and mentor junior tax staff, reviewing their work for accuracy and completeness
- Correspond with the IRS and state tax authorities to resolve notices and audits
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current tax laws, regulations, and industry developments
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and consultation
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA license preferred or in progress
- 3–5+ years of public accounting or tax experience
- Proficiency in tax preparation software (e.g., UltraTax, ProSeries, or similar)
- Strong knowledge of federal and multi-state tax compliance and regulations
- Experience preparing returns for individuals, S-Corps, C-Corps, and partnerships
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a client-first mindset
