The Plant Manager – Plastic Extrusion is responsible for overseeing all daily manufacturing operations within a plastics extrusion facility. This leader ensures safe, efficient, and high‑quality production while driving continuous improvement, team development, and operational excellence.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead Production, Quality, Materials, Engineering, and EHS teams.
• Hire, train, and develop employees to build a strong operations team.
• Represent the company with customers and ensure excellent support and service.
• Direct all extrusion, converting, and downstream processes to meet production, quality, and safety goals.
• Supervise, coach, and develop supervisors, operators, and support staff.
• Ensure optimal performance of extrusion lines, including setup, troubleshooting, and process control.
• Implement Lean, 5S, and efficiency initiatives to reduce scrap, increase throughput, and improve reliability.
• Maintain product specifications, oversee testing, and ensure adherence to customer and regulatory standards.
• Enforce OSHA and environmental compliance, ensuring a safe and clean work environment.
• Partner with maintenance to ensure uptime, preventive maintenance, and proper functioning of extruders, dies, winders, and converting equipment.
• Manage scheduling, material flow, and resource allocation to meet customer demand.
• Monitor operational costs, drive cost‑saving initiatives, and support P&L objectives.
• Participate in leadership reviews and support annual budgeting.
• Hold monthly communication meetings with the operations team.
• Implement and maintain strong processes using Lean, Six Sigma, and quality tools.
• Track KPIs, drive corrective actions, and improve results year over year.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives.
• Follow all Health, Safety, and Environmental policies.
• Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field; Lean/Six Sigma preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years in a supervisory or management role within a manufacturing environment.
• Proven experience overseeing plastics blown‑film and converting operations.
• Strong understanding and hands‑on working knowledge of extrusion, conversion, in‑line printing, and cartoning processes.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and understand manufacturing processes.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to attract and retain top talent.
• Excellent communication skills with internal teams and external partners.
