Description
The Digital Sector under Military Services Solutions Business Area at Leidos currently has an opening for a Quality Assurance Engineer position which will be 100% remote. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping with the [AGUN Program] mission. The current customer Unified Network Modernization (UNM) is a critical mission provider of global network modernization projects. The Army Global Unified Network (AGUN) - Increment 1 (INC1) contract will unify the next generation of Army transport to comply with the Joint Regional Security Stack (JRSS) divestiture mandate by designing, maintaining, rapidly deploying, and transitioning a globally orchestrated Software Defined Networking (SDN) solution.
The Quality Assurance Engineer serves as a key member of the AGUN Mission Assurance and Quality Engineering team, providing independent oversight of program execution, contractual compliance, operational performance, and continuous process improvement. The position partners with Program Management, Engineering, Logistics, Configuration Management, Cybersecurity, and Customer stakeholders to ensure program execution is compliant, measurable, predictable, and continuously improving throughout the entire acquisition and deployment lifecycle.
The Quality Assurance Engineer serves as an independent quality authority supporting Mission Assurance activities through objective verification, deployment readiness assessments, quality gates, risk-based decision support, and continuous process improvement to ensure successful contract execution and customer mission outcomes.
Key Primary Responsibilities are broken into three (3) Quality Management Systems (QMS), Mission Assurance and Program Integration categories:
Quality Management and Integration
Support the Quality Manager in the execution of plans and activities that measure compliance with Leidos EngineeringEdge® NextGen policies and standards.
Integrate closely with program team members and leadership to continuously implement and improve the Quality Management System (QMS).
Support program Staff Meetings, governance activities, and reporting requirements.
Report on the status of program quality, compliance, performance, risks, and improvement initiatives to Program Leadership and Leidos Management.
Support other quality engineering and mission assurance activities across the program as required.
Mission Assurance and Governance
Support Mission Assurance activities by participating in quality review gates, deployment readiness reviews, operational readiness assessments, milestone decision reviews, and customer acceptance activities.
Participate in Engineering Review Boards (ERBs), Customer Working Level Integrated Product Team meetings (WIPTs), Programmatic Meetings, and Quality Management Reviews (QMRs) by providing independent quality assessments, objective evidence, and recommendations.
Verify objective evidence supporting milestone decisions, contractual compliance, deployment readiness, and customer acceptance criteria.
Monitor overall program health through quality metrics, audits, performance trends, and risk indicators to support informed management decision-making.
Risk Management and Continuous Improvement
Lead internal audits, compliance reviews, and performance evaluations to proactively identify systemic issues and ensure sustainable resolution and prevention of recurrence.
Drive portfolio-level risk management integration in coordination with Program Managers and Task Order leadership, ensuring consistent identification, documentation, mitigation, and trend analysis of quality, technical, operational, and programmatic risks.
Leverage enterprise tools and platforms (e.g., SharePoint, Configuration Management repositories, AI-enabled analytics, dashboards, and program governance systems) to enhance reporting transparency, operational visibility, and executive decision support.
Contribute to enterprise quality strategy, governance alignment, organizational maturity, and continuous improvement initiatives supporting long-term mission success.

Performance Monitoring & Compliance Assurance
Measure program performance against contractual requirements and ensure alignment with customer mission objectives.
Review deliverables and processes to ensure full lifecycle compliance with performance requirements, recording quality review results for traceability and analysis.
Verify end-to-end traceability of contractual requirements through planning, design, implementation, verification, deployment, and customer acceptance.
Conduct and support data management related to Service Level Agreements (SLAs); monitor internal Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for trends in QMS adherence.
Oversee SLA/KPI performance analytics, leveraging data-driven insights to anticipate risk, reduce performance variability, and strengthening contractual execution.
Develop executive dashboards and performance metrics to identify trends, support predictive quality analysis, and enable proactive decision-making.
Assist in the creation and execution of the Internal Audit Schedule for compliance with PWS, Leidos policies, ISO 9001:2015, and CMMI-Dev.
Plan, coordinate, and execute risk-based internal audits supporting contractual requirements, Leidos EngineeringEdge®, ISO 9001:2015, and CMMI-DEV compliance.
Ensure the Internal Quality Audit schedule is properly executed, identifying objective evidence and providing added value.
Maintain evidence and quality artifacts in SharePoint to support audit readiness for site installations and supply chain functions.
Defect, Nonconformance, and Root Cause Management
Identify and communicate deliverables or services (RIPs, TARs, EWWs) that fail to meet quality standards and track them in the quality system.
Log defects, observations, and risks identified during site visits using quality tracking tools; ensure mitigation and disposition before final sign-off.
Document and ensuring defective or noncompliant items found during inspections are tracked with supporting evidence [i.e., photos, defect log entries].
Communicate Opportunities for Improvement (OFIs) and Corrective Action Requests (CARs); manage and track resolution to closure.
Conduct thorough root cause analyses and recommend corrective and preventive actions; ensure issues are resolved and closed on schedule.
Process Improvements
Lead enterprise-wide process improvements and operational excellence initiatives to improve quality, efficiency, cost, schedule, and customer satisfaction.
Facilitate Lean Six Sigma Kaizen events, Value Stream Mapping, DMAIC initiatives, and business process reengineering activities to improve operational performance.
Analyze business processes to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, risks, and opportunities; design and implement future state solutions.
Lead cross functional teams in planning, facilitating, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
Drive automation, workflow optimization, and digital transformation initiatives to improve business processes and operational performance.
Utilize automation, AI-assisted analytics, and business intelligence tools to improve workflow efficiency, reporting accuracy, and executive visibility.
Lead organizational change management activities to ensure successful adoption and sustainment of process improvements.
Ensure process improvements align with business objectives, customer requirements, quality standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational governance.
Measure improvement effectiveness through data analysis, benefits realization, and sustainment monitoring to ensure long term operational success.
Establish sustainment metrics and monitor long-term effectiveness to ensure improvements are institutionalized across the program.
Logistics Quality Oversight
Perform receiving inspections to ensure incoming materials are physically intact, correctly labeled, and consistent with packing slips and purchase orders.
Verify material readiness by confirming firmware versions, configuration settings, and safety compliance.
Participate in deployment readiness assessments to verify materials, configurations, documentation, and quality requirements are satisfied prior to field implementation.
Review and reconcile Material Inspection and Receiving Reports (MIRRs) and shipping documents with inventory logs.
Work with Logistics and Procurement teams to trace, inspect, and validate materials staged for deployment, ensuring proper labeling and quantity.
Assist in managing nonconforming items and coordinate Return Material Authorization (RMA) processes; confirm replacements meet quality standards and delivery timelines.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related discipline with 4-8 years of professional experience; or a Master's degree in a related discipline with 2-6 years of professional experience. Additional experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.
Currently possess a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
Experience working with SharePoint and MS Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Experience with Microsoft Power BI, Power Automate, Visio, Microsoft Project, Jira, and Confluence.

Ability to multi-task and function in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification
Experience leading internal audits, quality investigations, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Corrective Action Requests (CARs), and continual improvement initiatives.
Experience developing executive dashboards, quality metrics, and performance reporting.
Knowledge of requirements traceability, configuration management, and quality verification throughout the system development lifecycle.
Knowledge of procurement documentation [e.g. PO, packing slips, MIRRs], experience with material inspections and traceability practices, familiarity with RMA processes, and attention to detail in documentation review.
Experience conducting site visit inspections, familiarity with configuration management, ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications, and effective communication with stakeholders in field environments.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with Government and DoD IT and security policies and requirements
Experience in ISO 9001:2015 and CMMI-DEV Industry Standards and Best Practices.
Current industry certifications in quality management and or service management such as ISO 9001-20000 and ITIL.
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
Familiarity with the development of strategic quality approaches for execution to ensure requirement satisfaction.
Experience supporting Defense acquisition programs, engineering governance, deployment readiness, and enterprise Quality Management Systems.
