Duties

The Ambulatory Care Registered Nurse (RN) maintains flexibility with a high degree of interpersonal skills, effective communication, leadership, motivation, self-direction, and on-going evaluation of activities. Follows procedures per established policies and guidelines, influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team. Responsible and accountable for individual nursing practice and determines the appropriate delegation of tasks consistent with the nurse's obligation to provide optimal care. Focuses on individual growth and development in practice with increased levels of self-direction, ability to formulate a plan of care based on nursing assessments, seeks guidance in how to improve care, delegates elements of care to the appropriate individual based on needs. Responsible for providing competent, evidence-based care to a patient population. The nurse may assist in directing the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies and providing quality improvement and outcomes utilization. Partners with an interdisciplinary team to promote effective and safe care. Focuses on individual growth and development. This nurse has fundamental experience with the situations in which the incumbent is ultimately expected to perform, integrating theoretical concepts, basic critical thinking skills, and technically skilled practice. May have oversight of licensed vocational nurses/nursing assistants as appropriate to the setting. Executes position responsibilities that demonstrate beginning leadership skills and may participate in specific program experiences.
