The medical assistant provides clinical support, including initial preparation of the patient for examination/visit, assisting the provider during examinations, cleaning, stocking and maintenance of exam rooms, maintenance of diagnostic equipment, charting, and patient education.

Responsibilities include rooming patients, supporting telehealth visits, preparing exam rooms, collecting laboratory specimens, operating diagnostic tests, preparing and administering medications and vaccines, providing education to patients, cleaning and sterilizing instruments, and performing point-of-care equipment testing.

Minimum objective qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, successful completion of a medical assistant training program, basic life support certification, experience using Microsoft Office software and electronic medical record software, availability to work evenings until 9 p.m. and occasional Saturday morning, and reliable transportation and ability to travel independently between sites.

Preferred objective qualifications include some advanced training/college courses in Allied Health, Science, Medical Assisting, or other healthcare-related field, medical assistant certification by a national organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) completed within 12 months of hire, and completion of an interpreter training course, certification by the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters or certification by the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters.
