School Bus DriverBenefits Include:Retirement BenefitsPaid Holidays, Sick days, and Snow daysAttendance Incentive and Referral BonusReceive paid training to earn your CDL and required endorsementsCompetitive pay starts at $18.85/hr for Regular CDL route driversJob Summary: Safely and reliably transport and assist students and other school district passengers to and from school, educational or sporting events, community-based programs and other special activities.Schedule: 20-30 Hours Per Week/ 3 to 5 Hour ShiftsBackground checks include driving record, national criminal background, previous/ present employer, MDE physical exam, and random drug and alcohol testing.Specific Responsibilities:Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of your assigned vehicle as requiredUse established routes and designated bus stopsConduct emergency evacuation drills as requiredInstruct passenger riders regarding safetyDrive defensively under varying traffic conditions and inclement weatherDrive with the safety of passengers as first priorityEstablish favorable working relationships with other drivers, maintenance personnel, bus attendants, teachers, passengers, principals, and total school or program staffBus drivers shall achieve self improvement by attending training sessions, annual in-service and workshops conducted by Lakeshore Public Schools and/or other approved agenciesSpecific Abilities:Demonstrate knowledge of rules and regulations promulgated by local, state, and federal agenciesDemonstrate knowledge of state laws and local ordinancesDeal with exuberant behavior characteristics of youthful ridersAdminister disciplinary procedures in keeping with district policiesBe alert and exercise good judgment concerning emergencies and day-to-day operationsShall be able to conduct a bus evacuation drill as required by Transportation ManagementKeep accurate records and reports as required, submit in a legible condition, turn in at the specified timeConduct yourself as a professional Lakeshore Public School Transportation staff member at all timesOperate all vehicle lifts as prescribed in company policySecure all equipment that is required for each passenger as prescribed in company policyPhysical Requirements:School Bus Drivers are required to perform a variety of physical tasks that may involve lifting, pulling, pushing, bending, reaching, carrying, and moving objects of varying weights. Drivers must also possess the physical ability to assist students as needed and to safely evacuate students from the school bus in the event of an emergency.
