Assistant CookWe're looking for motivated, engaged people to help make everyone's journeys better.Job Summary:An Assistant Cook is responsible for assisting the Head Cook in preparing and cooking various food items according to the recipes.Main Duties and Responsibilities:Prepares fish, beef, pork, poultry and other food products including vegetables and starches for the cookObserves and enforces strict requirements with regards to food safety.Follow directions.Works as a member of a team.Additional responsibilities may be added as deemed necessary.Provides leadership, coaching, training and/or mentoring to a subordinate groupCommunicates to higher level manager frequently on production progress or concerns (staffing, shortages, delivery system, etc.)Monitors compliance and safety rule adherence at the work stationsMaintains the flow of equipment and food at work stationsAssists the Supervisor or Manager in running the shiftQualificationsEducation:Culinary degree and/or cook certification is preferred.Work Experience:2 years in the related fieldRecipe conversion experience is required to accommodate the kitchen's daily production needs.Experience with maintaining temperature logs for all food items prepared.Technical Skills: (Certification, Licenses and Registration)Not applicableJob Skills:Leadership skillsHas good understanding of the unit's operational processesLanguage / Communication Skills:Must be able to read and write to complete required formsCommunicate effectively with supervisors and co-workersGood verbal communication and interpersonal skillsRequirements of the Job:Comply with company policiesComplete required paperworkHandle various food products such as seafood, beef, pork, poultry, fruits, and vegetables.Handle knives and kitchen tools properly.Work Environment:Will be exposed to extreme temperature changes and noise.Will work with cleaning solutions, people-safe chemicals and related equipment to thoroughly clean and sanitize food service equipment and facilities.Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move product, equipment and supplies up to fifty (50) pounds.Regularly stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during shifts of 8+ hours.gategroup Competencies Required to be Successful in the Job:Thinking – Information Search and analysis & problem resolution skillsEngaging – Understanding others, Team Leadership and Developing PeopleInspiring – Influencing and building relationships, Motivating and Inspiring, Communicating effectivelyAchieving – Delivering business results under pressure, Championing Performance Improvement and Customer FocusDemonstrated Values to be Successful in the PositionEmployees at gategroup are expected to live our Values of Excellence, Integrity, Passion and Accountability.
