Registered Nurse - Cardiac Stepdown

Job Description

Job Summary:
Provide specialized nursing care to cardiac patients in a step-down unit, closely monitoring patient vitals and responding to clinical changes. Ensure safety and comfort while delivering high-quality healthcare within a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Administer and document primary nursing care to cardiac patients, including telemetry monitoring and strip reading.
• Conduct fingerstick blood sugar tests and manage patient medications using Meditech charting and Pyxis systems.
• Monitor patients with BIPAP and continuous cardiac monitoring equipment, ensuring device functionality and patient safety.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members and float to other units as needed, maintaining adaptability in all acute care settings.
• Follow all hospital protocols and dress code, wearing scrubs and adhering to safety standards.
• Maintain current licensure, certifications, and registrations, including ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS if obtained.

Qualifications:

• Hold a valid Hawaii RN license and obtain upon offer acceptance if not currently licensed.
• Possess at least 1 year of recent hospital acute care experience, with preference for progressive care and telemetry.
• Demonstrate proficiency in primary nursing, telemetry, and cardiac procedures.
• Maintain certifications such as ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS, with preferred candidates holding current credentials.
• Capable of floating between medical, surgical/pediatric, ICU, and emergency units as required.
