Job Title: Maintenance Technician Job Description

The Maintenance Technician supports safe, efficient production operations by performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on industrial machinery and equipment. This role focuses on diagnosing electrical and PLC issues, resolving mechanical problems, and minimizing equipment downtime through structured maintenance activities and accurate documentation in a computerized maintenance management system.

Responsibilities
  • Perform daily preventative maintenance on production machinery, dedicating approximately four hours per machine to tasks such as greasing, lubricating, and inspecting components.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and PLC control systems to identify and resolve faults, ensuring equipment returns to normal operation quickly.
  • Diagnose root causes of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues and implement effective repairs to prevent recurring problems.
  • Use a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and mobile app to log preventative maintenance steps, record work completed, and receive work orders and maintenance information.
  • Remove and reinstall machine components, such as rollers, and coordinate with machine shops for repair or refurbishment as needed.
  • Collaborate with riggers and other team members to safely assemble and disassemble equipment and perform complex maintenance tasks.
  • Replace pneumatic lines and related components on tampers and other equipment to restore proper power and functionality.
  • Work daily in areas with dust and debris, cleaning and organizing workspaces to maintain safe and efficient operations.
  • Clean photo eyes, sensors, and reflectors to ensure accurate detection and reliable machine performance.
  • Interpret and work from blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical documentation when troubleshooting and repairing equipment.
  • Use hand tools and specialty tools to perform installations, repairs, and adjustments on conveyors, motors, and other industrial systems.
  • Perform electrical maintenance tasks, including identifying issues in wiring, controls, and components, following appropriate safety procedures.
  • Support industrial maintenance activities across the facility, responding to service requests and prioritizing tasks to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Communicate effectively with the maintenance team and other departments, including understanding when and how to contact vendors for support.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and adhere to all safety requirements, including proper use of personal protective equipment.
Essential Skills
  • Hands-on experience performing preventative maintenance on industrial machinery, including greasing, lubricating, and inspecting equipment.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills for industrial equipment, including conveyors, motors, and machine components.
  • Proficiency in electrical troubleshooting, including diagnosing issues with wiring, controls, and electrical components.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and work with PLC control systems to identify and resolve control-related faults.
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics and the ability to diagnose and repair related system issues.
  • Industrial maintenance experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to use hand tools and specialty tools safely and effectively for installation, repair, and service tasks.
  • Competence in documenting maintenance activities in a CMMS and using a mobile app to receive and record work information.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working as a maintenance technician in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
  • Background in welding and basic fabrication for equipment repair and modification.
  • Familiarity with conveyor systems and motor controls in industrial environments.
  • Comfort working with industrial electrical maintenance, including installation and repair of electrical components.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with riggers and other maintenance team members during equipment assembly and disassembly.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail when logging preventative maintenance steps and repair activities.
  • Willingness to work on second and third shifts as needed and adapt to shift differentials.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment through proper use of PPE and adherence to safety procedures.

Work Environment

This role is primarily on second shift, working Monday through Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., with a period on first shift for initial training to learn systems, plant operations, and vendor procedures. Second shift includes a pay differential, and third shift offers a higher differential when applicable. You work as part of a maintenance team of approximately six members in an industrial facility where conditions can be hot during the summer and where dust and debris are present around machinery. Personal protective equipment is required, including ear plugs, safety glasses, and steel-toe footwear, with reimbursement available toward approved boots. The role requires the use of standard hand tools and specialty tools for maintenance and repair tasks, and regular interaction with industrial equipment, conveyors, motors, sensors, and PLC-controlled systems.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Denver, CO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
