Your Opportunity Stantec's Cultural Resources team has an opportunity for on-callarchaeological field technicians to support field projects throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. Stantec is seeking Archaeological Field Technicians to assist with upcoming fieldwork that will occur primarily in New York and Pennsylvania. The successful applicant will be responsible for executing field related tasks under the supervision of an archaeological field supervisor. This position requires extensive travel with frequent overnight stays. Your Key Responsibilities The position will primarily consist of fieldwork but may include exposure to a wider range of other duties including laboratory research and analysis. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: perform archaeological fieldwork tasks including controlled surface survey; shovel test survey; and excavation. Duties may also include cleaning, cataloging, photographing, and labeling artifacts recovered from surface collection and excavation. Your Capabilities and Credentials Experience conducting Phase I, II, and III archaeological survey including inventory, testing, and/or data recovery. Previous experience with digital field recording (e.g., ESRI Field Maps app for ArcGIS) Assist with setting up a site grid, datum, and excavation units; Mapping site plans and individual shovel tests, units, and features in plan and profile. Identifying historic and precontact artifacts following standard collection procedures. Identifying cultural features. Adaptability and willingness to work as part of a team and independently. Ability and willingness to work under varied weather conditions. Ability to walk and conduct fieldwork for long hours through sometimes rugged terrain and ability to carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds is required. Dedicated to following and promoting a strong safety culture; Industry-specific safety training certificates is an asset. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
