Pediatric Cardiac Prep and Recovery RN

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

3x12-hour shifts from 06:30 AM to 07:00 PM. Staff are expected to stay until the last patient is either discharged or admitted, which rarely extends past 07:00 PM.

Job Description

The Pediatric Cardiac Prep and Recovery RN plays a crucial role in the pre and post-anesthesia care of pediatric cardiac patients, including those undergoing special cardiovascular, electrophysiological, and interventional catheterization procedures. This role requires a strong foundation in cardiovascular anatomy and physiology and involves caring for a diverse patient population ranging from neonates to geriatric congenital cardiac patients.

Responsibilities

• Conduct 2-3 patient visits per day, providing thorough pre and post-operative care.
• Manage pre-anesthesia assessments and post-anesthesia recovery for pediatric cardiac patients.
• Collaborate with the Pediatric Interventional Cardiology and Imaging team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Monitor patients for abnormal vital signs and other complications throughout procedures.
• Educate families regarding care pre and post-procedure.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of RN experience in a pediatric ICU or procedural care nursing, preferably in cardiac settings.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required.
• South Carolina RN license must be held prior to the start date.
