Details Med/Surg unit within a hospital setting (30-bed unit) Patient population includes hip/knee, mastectomy, and abdominal surgery patients Patient ratio of 1:4-5 Utilizes PCA and heparin drips Uses EPIC EMR Night shift, 4x12 hr shifts, 48 hrs/week with a 36 hr option Required to work every 3rd weekend Required to float across campuses to like units No on-call requirements Unit has an emotional support canine Requirements Active IA RN license or compact/multistate license required Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC) Minimum 24 months of Med/Surg experience in a hospital or medical center setting required PCA and heparin drip experience required EPIC EMR experience required Post-op surgical experience highly preferred Patient care experience with hip/knee, mastectomy, and abdominal surgery patients highly preferred Professional reference from a supervisor, charge nurse, manager, director, CNO, or COO within the past 24 months preferred Valid driver's license required for consideration Additional Information Provide direct patient care on a Med/Surg unit including post-operative and drip management Required to work 1-2 of the 3 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year) unless the unit is closed Limited time off requests permitted during the winter holiday period First-time travelers will be considered Local candidates are not accepted within 50 miles of the facility Past UPH employees (FTE or PRN float pool) are restricted from working travel assignments at other UPH market facilities within 12 months American Traveler Job ID P-769394.
