EDR-School Nurse Chair

School Nurse Department Chair K-12

Reports to: Dr. Pamela White, Assistant to the Superintendent for Administrative Services

After school activities are required. This is a full school year activity. No Activity Fund management is required.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Communication liaison between faculty and administration and to serve further mutual understanding of complex issues.
• Including open participation in dialogue with members of the department and other department chairs, and administrators to ensure that the goals and direction of the school are clearly stated and aligned with the mission of the school.
• Serve as a leader in curriculum, pedagogy and revisions in his or her respective department.
• Guide conversations about teaching and learning in each department to ensure that rigor and innovation are being pursued and good practices are being followed.
• Seek out new ideas and initiatives for administration approval for introduction to the department.
• Participate when required in job interviewing with respective departments.
• It is also the chairs responsibilities to support teachers who are new to the department or profession.
• Serve as an advocate of one's own department during meetings with other departments and administrators, while at the same time supporting the wider mission of the school, including supporting the culture of healthy and open discussion about school issues, while showing active support for the school's decisions.
• Facilitate meetings that promote participation from all department meetings.
• Keep department meetings focused on details and meaningful conversation.
• Collaborate on the SHAARS report.
• Ensure systems are in place for immunizations and medications.
• Support/collaborate with building nurses on 504 writing.
• Support building nurses with medical questions and concerns.
• Support implementation of practices and procedures for all district nurses.
