INSPECTION SPECIALIST (WT: SENIOR MV COMPLIANCE EXAMINER) - 76005002 The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) is hiring an Inspection Specialist to serve as a liaison with the Tax Collectors and staff for the Division of Motorist Services regarding registrations, titles, and other concerns including monitoring investigations involving fraud and providing consultation on inventory and accountable items sold and delivered to the public. This position reports directly to the Regional Administrator and is responsible for assisting with mandatory training, conducting on-site visits to dealer locations, implementing corrective action plans, and assuring compliance with federal, state, and agency policy and procedures. Duties and Responsibilities Serving as a liaison with Tax Collectors and staff regarding registrations, titles, and other areas of concern. Monitoring investigations involving fraud. Providing consultation on inventory and accountable items sold and delivered to the public. Assisting with mandatory training. Conducting on-site visits to dealer locations. Implementing corrective action plans. Assuring compliance with federal, state, and agency policy and procedures. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Skill in the operation of personal computer PC-based applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers. Ability to prepare an investigative report. Ability to work independently. Ability to prepare correspondence and reports. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others and deal with the public in a tactful and courteous manner. Ability to research and apply motor vehicle titles and registration, policies, regulations, and procedures. Skill in Florida Real-Time Vehicle Information System (FRVIS). Knowledge of automotive parts, repairs and mobile homes. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience in investigative report writing. Experience researching and applying rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Experience dealing with customer service complaints or inquiries. Job Related Requirements The position requires the incumbent to have and maintain a valid driver's license in good standing. A driver’s license history review will be conducted on all candidates in consideration for the position. Out-of-town travel is required. This position requires standing for extended periods of time, kneeling, crouching, stooping, crawling, bending, climbing and the ability to lift up to 20 pounds. Occasional overtime is required (including Saturday and Sunday). The incumbent is required to wear a uniform.
