The Role

As an Automation Technician, you'll program, repair and maintain all automated machinery and auxiliary equipment, including:

• All automated devices used for runner removal, part handling, separation or packing.
• All machinery at the press or in the Assembly department used in secondary operations.
• All auxiliary equipment.

What you'll do:

• Diagnose trouble, disassemble equipment and determine the extent of repairs needed.
• Analyze and resolve problems.
• Organize and manage multiple priorities with attention to detail.
• Make repair parts and replace defective components.
• Perform welding and sheet metal operations needed to repair equipment.
• Operate lathe, vertical mill, drill press and grinders as required.
• Occasionally direct an assigned helper.
• Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
• Follow safety rules and wear prescribed protective clothing or items.

What You Bring

• Minimum 2-year technical degree in a related field.
• 5 years of PLC programming experience with systems such as Allen Bradley, Siemens, etc.
• Experience troubleshooting and improving electrical controls, vision systems, PLC systems, robotics and continuous motion systems strongly preferred.
• Mechanical comprehension and a strong understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical applications and blueprints.
• Ability to read and interpret prints and diagrams.
• Strong general computer skills, including CAD (SolidWorks and/or ProE).

Physical Requirements

The incumbent will:

• Work in a clean manufacturing environment that may include moderate noise levels, with a significant amount of time moving around the manufacturing floor.
• Stand and/or walk constantly during the shift.
• Lift up to 55 lbs.
• Bend, stoop, twist, balance, kneel and crouch as part of regular duties.
• Push and pull items.
• Climb up and down, work on top of and move across molding machines, assembly equipment, ladders and aerial lift equipment.
• Occasionally work in small, cramped spaces.
• Wear appropriate PPE, including fire-retardant apparel.
