Riis Neighborhood Settlement (Riis Settlement), a community-based non-profit organization offering comprehensive services to the youth, adults, seniors, immigrants and families of Western Queens, is dedicated to civic engagement and organizing as integral to our mission “to build and strengthen underserved communities and act as a catalyst for change.”Job Summary:The Part-Time Community Engagement Coordinator supports the planning, coordination, and implementation of community engagement activities that strengthen relationships between the organization and the Western Queens community. This role is responsible for executing outreach efforts, supporting programs and events, providing education and resources, and maintaining strong connections with community members and partners.Working in a part-time capacity, the coordinator focuses on day-to-day engagement efforts, ensuring a consistent community presence and high-quality program delivery.Major Duties & Responsibilities:Conduct outreach to community members, partners, and stakeholders to promote programs and servicesRepresent the organization at community meetings, events, and outreach activitiesBuild and maintain positive relationships with community members and local organizationsSupport the planning and execution of community events, workshops, and initiativesAssist with logistics, including scheduling, setup, coordination, and follow-upEnsure programs are welcoming, inclusive, and responsive to community needsMaintain ongoing communication with existing community partnersIdentify and help coordinate new partnership opportunitiesSupport volunteer recruitment, coordination, and engagement for events and programsHelp ensure volunteers have a positive and organized experienceRespond to community inquiries and provide information about programs and servicesSupport outreach efforts through flyers, emails, and social mediaMaintain organized records of contacts, partnerships, and engagement activitiesSTATEMENT OF SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Community Development, Public Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience)2–4 years of experience in community engagement, outreach, or program coordinationExperience working with diverse communities and populationsStrong interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to build relationships and effectively engage diverse groupsStrong organizational and multitasking skillsDetail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple prioritiesAbility to work both independently and as part of a teamBasic data tracking and reporting skillsExperience in a nonprofit or community-based organization preferredFamiliarity with the local community, including its needs and assetsMultilingual abilities strongly preferredWork Schedule: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, though it may vary depending on scheduled events.This is a temporary position with an anticipated end date of December 2026BENEFITS:40 hours’ sick leave21 hours’ personal leaveRetirement plan with 50% employer match up to 6% of total salaryStudent Loan Assistance and Education AssistanceEAP ServicesJacob A.
