Responsibilities & Duties

• Safely operate a yard goat (yard truck) to move trailers within the yard
• Position trailers accurately at loading and unloading docks
• Hook and unhook trailers, including air lines and safety connections
• Inspect trailers before and after movement for safety, damage, and compliance
• Operate a sit-down forklift to load, unload, and move materials as needed
• Support warehouse operations with staging and organizing freight
• Maintain proper trailer and equipment placement in the yard
• Communicate with dispatch, warehouse staff, and supervisors regarding trailer movements
• Follow all DOT, OSHA, and company safety policies and procedures
• Perform basic yard truck checks (fuel, fluids, and general condition awareness)
• Document trailer locations and movements when required
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Assist with general warehouse duties when needed

Requirements / Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Yard Goat Driver, Yard Jockey, or similar role preferred
• Valid CDL (Class A preferred depending on employer requirements)
• Experience operating a sit-down forklift required
• Ability to safely operate heavy equipment in tight yard and warehouse environments
• Strong understanding of trailer spotting, loading dock procedures, and safety practices
• Ability to work in a fast-paced distribution or warehouse setting
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including overtime, nights, and weekends
• Reliable, punctual, and safety-oriented work ethic
• Ability to lift, bend, and climb in and out of equipment as needed
