Building Equipment Mechanic II

Job Description Montgomery College, Rockville has an immediate need for BuildingEquipment Mechanic II. The work schedule is Monday - Friday, 6:30am– 3:00pm. This is a bargaining, non-Exempt, grade 25 position. Montgomery College promotes and creates a working and learningenvironment rooted in the basic tenets of fairness, diversity, and inclusiveness. Duties include but are not limited to: Ensure proper boiler room equipment operation including pumps,boilers, water treatment, air lines, variable frequency drives,expansion tank water levels, temperatures, pressures, exhaust fans,water and oil meters, chillers and related equipment. Receive and respond to work orders for various buildings. Troubleshoot/resolve problems identified in work ordersincluding heating cooling, potable water, and strange odors. Switch cooling and heating systems semi-annually; start andstop gas and ammonia chillers, prepare and melt ice for chillersand glycol systems. Check refrigerant, oil levels, oil pressure, andtemperature. Conduct regularly scheduled preventative maintenance on allboiler room equipment. Order required parts and supplies for equipment maintenance,repair or replacement. Inspect assigned buildings to ensure that all heating,plumbing, and electrical systems are operating properly. Perform daily routine and emergency work order requests. Perform preventative maintenance, such as seasonal repairs andupgrades to HVAC systems (the latter under the direction of an HVACmechanic). Track assigned work orders of progress in the work orderdatabase to ensure tasks performed are documented. Replace ceiling tiles, help with snow removal, performtemporary roof repairs, fabricate motor mounts for HVAC units(welding/braising), repairs water pumps to pool. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: High school diploma or GED. Five years of progressively responsible experience working withcommercial heating ventilation and air-conditioning systems, airhandling units, VAV boxes, and rooftop packaged units. The equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and/or experience that provides the requiredknowledge and expertise to perform the essential functions of thejob may be considered. Maryland Stationary Engineer 3rd Grade License, Section 608 Universal Certification, Driver’s License Hiring Range: $29.51 - $38.35 hourly. Initial salary placement for new hires falls between the minimum and midpoint of the range and is based on relevant candidate experience and internal equity. The maximum salary for this position is $47.20. For degrees earned outside of the U.S., a copy of your educationequivalency, conducted by a nationally recognized evaluationservice, must be included in your application.
