Diagnostic Radiologist (Body Radiologist Position)This is an open continuous announcement that will remain open until filled. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis. Position(s) listed under this Open Continuous Announcement (OCA) MAY be eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Applicants selected for an EDRP-eligible position will be notified in their conditional job offer. The selectee must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit an EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, award amount (up to $200,000), and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Permanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance): Not Authorized Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory CME: Possible $1,000-$2,500 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification) Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlightingPosition duties for a Diagnostic Radiologist (Body Radiologist position) at VA Phoenix include but are not limited to the following:Provides a broad range of image interpretation, image-guided procedures (as applicable), and patient care services within Diagnostic Radiology.Contributes to education and training of staff and trainees and participate in committee assignments supporting clinical operations and organizational mission.Provides direct patient care in his/her specialty area 90-100% of the time. This responsibility will include: Evaluating and prioritizing radiology orders and consultsOrdering and evaluating appropriate laboratory studiesOrdering hydration for CT examsProtocoling and approving complex imaging examsTimely and accurate reporting of a variety of complex imaging examsNotifying providers of critical imaging resultsEnsures all patient data (radiology reports, requests for laboratory studies, etc.) is entered into the patient's chart electronically including appropriate CPT codes and diagnosis.Functions part-time as a Radiology-Educator for medical and other health care trainees including students, resident physicians and fellows as part of his/her duties as a member of the department. He/she may present formal educational material from time to time in various venues such as Grand Rounds, etc. The incumbent will also demonstrate appropriate professional behavior and correct procedures for maintaining records, evaluating and monitoring personnel, and other administrative functions.Mentors junior faculty, fellows, and others on research projects that they wish to develop.Participates in call duties per department policy.Performs other duties as assigned.Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm
