Key Responsibilities\n- \n
- Conduct thorough trauma-informed mental health assessments to evaluate patients' trauma histories, ensuring an accurate understanding of their unique experiences and treatment needs. \n
- Develop and implement personalized treatment plans that focus on trauma recovery and resilience-building strategies, utilizing tools such as Experiential Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). \n
- Facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions, creating a safe space for patients to process their trauma and learn effective coping strategies. \n
- Utilize evidence-based interventions, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), to support patient healing. \n
- Work collaboratively with psychiatrists and other mental health professionals to ensure comprehensive integrated care for each patient, addressing all facets of their well-being. \n
- Provide crisis intervention as necessary for clients experiencing acute trauma-related emergencies, utilizing de-escalation techniques and supportive counseling. \n
- Educate patients and their families on understanding trauma responses, promoting effective coping mechanisms, and providing information on community resources. \n
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient progress and treatment in compliance with state and federal regulations, ensuring confidentiality and ethical conduct. \n
- Participate in case consultations and team meetings, contributing expert knowledge and collaborating on patient care strategies. \n
- Stay informed on the latest research and best practices surrounding trauma therapy, pursuing continuous education opportunities for professional development. \n
Your primary focus will be on individuals affected by trauma, including those diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex trauma, and dissociative disorders. You will work with a diverse client base, helping survivors navigate their unique challenges while promoting healing and resilience.
Qualifications\n- \n
- A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution is required. \n
- Current and valid licensure as an LMFT, LMHC, LCSW, or LCSW-R in the state of New York is mandatory. \n
- Demonstrated experience (minimum of 2 years post-licensure) in mental health counseling, particularly with trauma-focused therapies. \n
- Strong understanding of trauma-related disorders and contemporary trauma-informed approaches. \n
- Excellent interpersonal skills, showcasing a compassionate and non-judgmental demeanor when working with clients. \n
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems along with aptitude for various computer applications relevant to clinical practice. \n
- A collaborative mindset to function effectively within a multidisciplinary team setting. \n
While 2 years of post-licensure experience is preferred, candidates bringing specialized training in trauma therapies and actively seeking to expand their knowledge in emerging therapies will also be considered favorably.
