School Health Nurse

Note: This position is for the 2026-2027 school year. The salary will be based on the 2026-2027 salary schedule which is not yet approved by the Board of Education. The salary listed is based on the current year's salary schedule.

Qualifications:

• Valid Missouri LPN or RN license
• Current CPR & first aid certification

Reports To: Director of Special Education and Coordinator of School Health Services

Job Goal: To implement the school health program for students and staff. Objectives of practice should be to minimize absences, promote wellness, and assist in the reduction or elimination of health-related barriers to academic success.

Terms Of Employment: 191 days of school term; 8 hours/day

Performance Responsibilities:

• Promote an optimal level of wellness for students and staff.
• Uphold professional standards, the Missouri Nurse Practice Act, and other statutes and regulations applicable to the practice of school nursing.
• Collaborate with the Coordinator of School Health Services and Healthroom Paraprofessionals.
• Serve as a direct link between families, healthcare providers, and community agencies.
• Apply appropriate theory as a basis for decision-making in nursing practice.
• Provide crisis intervention (e.g. adolescent pregnancy, substance abuse, death of a family member, suicide, and child abuse or neglect issues, etc).
• Develop nursing care plans with specific goals and interventions unique to student needs.
• Implement nursing actions that promote, maintain, or restore health, prevent illness, and effect rehabilitation.
• Participate in student centered school team meetings, as appropriate.
• Provide relevant health-related instruction, counseling, and guidance to students, staff, parents and others.
• Assist with health screenings and subsequent follow-up.
• Act as substitute in absence of health room paraprofessional, when necessary.
• Provide health-related information to staff and students.
• Pursue relevant professional development opportunities.
• Other duties as assigned by the Building Principal and/or the Coordinator of Health Service.

Compensation: RN - Grade 13 ($29.20 - $33.19/HR) LPN - Grade 14 ($30.38 - $34.41/HR)
