Valet - CHV PT - 30-32 hrs/week, evenings (4pm-12pm) CH157 - Marriott Hotel Valet - Chicago, IL, 541 North Rush, Chicago, Illinois, United States of America Job Description Generally, a valet attendant will pull cars from customers at one location such as a hotel, restaurant, etc. and park them in a remote parking lot/garage. They will then be required to retrieve the customer cars from the remote parking lot/garage location and drive them back to the customers when they return. Pay Rate: $16.45 per hour 30-32 hours per week, evenings (4pm-12pm) Drives and maneuvers automatic and stick shift cars in confined, underground facilities, surface lots, or up and down parking garage ramps. Returns to work stations quickly to facilitate optimal customer flow. Handles each vehicle with care and attention, and follows all facility safety precautions. Provides outstanding customer service by responding to customer needs, questions, and problems and/or complaints as quickly and efficiently as possible. May assist customers in and out of vehicles. Reports any accidents, hazards or maintenance requirements or the presence of any suspicious individuals or activities immediately to the manager. Remains vigilant for anything unusual or potentially threatening and informs management immediately. Monitors work area and property for safety and security. Recognizes potentially dangerous situations and responds in the safest and most effective manner. Participates in all safety and security trainings within the market. On an exception basis, a valet attendant may be required to perform cashier duties or light garage maintenance duties. Required Qualifications Must know how to and be able to drive a manual and automatic transmission passenger vehicle. Possess math skills sufficient to calculate time and money. Must be able to understand verbal instructions and act accordingly in a timely manner. Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the US. Must be at least 18 years old. Valid driver’s license; depending on location, may require a valid driver’s license from the state in which the employee works. Must be willing to pass a math test as part of the selection process. Must be willing to submit to a drug, background investigation, and MVR/Driving Record check as part of the selection process. Must be willing to work out of the Chicago area. Must be willing and able to work outdoors and be exposed to all types of weather elements. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to walk to or move to assist customers in a timely manner; in some cases, must be able to travel up and down parking garage ramps to assist customers and address garage issues. Preferred Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Professional experience parking cars or working as a valet attendant. Prior customer service industry experience. Possess excellent communication skills in order to facilitate interactions with co‑workers, superiors, and customers. Possess strong time management skills and ability to perform in a fast‑paced environment with high customer volume. Positive attitude and strong customer focus. Ability to grasp, push, scoop, and lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
