A day in the life

You start your shift on a high-density healthcare build-out, tablet in hand, reviewing the electrical layout for a new imaging suite. By mid-morning, you’re bending EMT, IMC, and rigid conduit to spec, routing raceways cleanly through crowded ceilings. After lunch, you’re pulling feeders and branch circuits for heavy commercial power distribution, then landing conductors for lighting controls and critical backup power. You verify every connection against the NEC and the facility’s healthcare electrical standards, wrap up with safety checks aligned to OSHA and hospital protocols, and document your work to keep the next area ready for turnover.

What you’ll tackle

• Translate blueprints into precise installations for medical spaces and administrative offices.
• Bend and install EMT, IMC, and rigid conduit accurately and efficiently.
• Pull feeder and branch circuit wiring for robust commercial power distribution.
• Wire specialized medical equipment, lighting control systems, and backup power infrastructure.
• Ensure strict compliance with NEC and healthcare facility electrical codes.
• Work safely every day under OSHA guidelines and hospital-specific procedures.

What you bring

• Commercial electrician experience with 4–5 years in commercial electrical work.
• Background in large-scale fit-outs or tenant improvements.
• Expert skill in blueprint reading, circuit troubleshooting, and conduit bending.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and remain on your feet for extended periods.

Preferred

• Hands-on work history in hospitals, clinics, or medical office buildings.
• Familiarity with MC-AP cable and isolated ground circuits used in healthcare environments.
