Accountabilities

In this role, you will lead technical excellence in interconnection and transmission planning activities while supporting both project delivery and strategic growth. Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading and performing complex generation and load interconnection studies aligned with ISO and utility methodologies within the Western Interconnected System Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC).
• Overseeing model benchmarking and validation for generation and load projects, ensuring compliance with evolving regulatory and technical requirements.
• Acting as a subject matter expert on interconnection studies, staying current with industry standards, market rules, and regulatory developments.
• Strengthening QA/QC processes, technical frameworks, and delivery standards to improve consistency, efficiency, and study quality.
• Mentoring and developing engineering staff, fostering technical depth, client readiness, and a culture of accountability and innovation.
• Supporting client engagement by reviewing studies, identifying risks, and recommending cost- and time-optimized interconnection strategies.
• Contributing to industry forums, conferences, and technical publications to reinforce thought leadership in the energy sector.

Requirements

This role requires a strong foundation in power system studies combined with the ability to communicate technical insights in a commercial context. The ideal candidate will bring:

• 8+ years of experience in the electric power or energy industry, with direct exposure to interconnection or transmission planning.
• Hands-on experience with CAISO and WECC-related systems, utilities, or consulting engagements within the Western energy market California ISO.
• Proven experience in interconnection study types such as injection and deliverability studies, cluster studies, and load interconnection analyses.
• Strong expertise in power system modeling, including IBR, EMT studies, and transmission planning methodologies.
• Proficiency with industry tools such as PSLF, PSS®E, TARA, PSCAD, and ASPEN.
• Solid understanding of interconnection standards, planning criteria, and reliability requirements in Western markets.
• Ability to bridge technical analysis with commercial decision-making and project strategy.
• Excellent communication skills, with confidence working independently and collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience with programming or automation tools (Python, C#, SQL) is considered a plus.
