Step into an impactful role supporting middle school students as a Sign Language Interpreter for a full-time contract position near Smyrna, GA. In this opportunity, you'll facilitate communication and foster inclusivity for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students within a vibrant educational setting. Whether you prefer engaging with students face-to-face or utilizing your skills virtually, there's flexibility to suit your strengths and lifestyle.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Current credentials as a Sign Language Interpreter (state and/or national certification)
- Previous experience in an educational setting or working with children/adolescents
- Ability to adapt signing to each student’s unique needs and learning style
- Comfort using educational technology for virtual interpreting, if preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide interpretation services during classroom instruction, group activities, and school events for students and staff
- Support students in understanding curriculum content and participating fully in the school community
- Collaborate with educators, case managers, and support staff to ensure student success
- Assist with preparation of classroom materials to enhance accessibility
- Maintain professional standards of confidentiality and ethical conduct
