Position Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) works under the supervision of the Director of Women and Family Unit and provides comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Women and Family Center. This includes care for women in labor, post-delivery, post-surgical, newborns, special care nursery patients, and pediatrics. The RN is responsible for performing procedures within the scope of practice as set forth by the Iowa State Board of Nursing and ensuring exceptional patient care.

Position Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) works under the supervision of the Director of Women and Family Unit and provides comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Women and Family Center. This includes care for women in labor, post-delivery, post-surgical, newborns, special care nursery patients, and pediatrics. The RN is responsible for performing procedures within the scope of practice as set forth by the Iowa State Board of Nursing and ensuring exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver direct nursing care to patients in labor and delivery, post-partum, and newborn nursery.
- Complete physical and psychosocial assessments of assigned patients.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans in collaboration with patients and their families.
- Contribute to and execute the medical plan of care as directed by the physician.
- Accurately document care and patient responses in the electronic medical record.
- Administer medications safely, adhering to the five rights of medication administration.
- Monitor fetal and maternal conditions, respond to emergencies promptly, and provide support during labor.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure holistic patient care.
- Demonstrate critical thinking skills in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Maintain strong interpersonal communication and a patient-centered approach.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program.
- Prior experience in Maternal Child Nursing or Medical/Surgical Nursing preferred, but not required.
- Current Iowa RN license or Compact State Nursing License.
- BLS certification required.
- NRP certification within 12 months of hire (training provided).
- Basic fetal monitoring course within 12 months of hire.
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking ability in a fluctuating patient census.

- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
