General Maintenance Worker with Security Clearance

Job Summary General Maintenance Worker (GMW) – full‑time position located in Hanahan, SC, at the Naval Weapons Station. The GMW performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings, including painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical work, and furniture installation and reconfiguration. Responsibilities Perform general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings. Install, reconfigure, and maintain furniture systems, case goods, and technical workbenches, including electrical wiring harnesses. Follow local guidance and FAR regulations. Ensure vehicle safety, conduct daily inspections, and operate multiple vehicle types for material delivery. Maintain and organize warehouse for efficiency and safety; keep loading bays organized and clutter‑free. Work with senior government personnel and management to control material for project goals and deadlines. Qualifications Minimum 2 years of experience performing maintenance and repair, with practical skills in painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work. Proficiency in oral and written communication in English. Valid driver’s license. Ability to pass a government background investigation/clearance. High school diploma or GED preferred. Experience with testing, storing, and shipping recyclable materials, operating forklifts, preparing reports, performing preventive maintenance, minor repairs, and lubrication. Background screening and clearance may be required.
